Peek At Our Week 11

The kids are so hyper for Christmas this week! They did the bare minimum for school. Little Elf did make his appearance this week so they all had fun with that.

Summer Week 11

This is pretty much the last week before we get ready for our new school year. Skyler did some outside fun with planting mint in her fairy gardens. We had gotten cutting some weeks back and they finally grew roots so here is hoping they do nicely outside!

We also "rescued" some plants in the clearance section at Lowes for her. She is all about rescuing the plants LOL!

The plate in this garden is for bees. She really loves bees!

We found a bee house at Aldi so she had to have that too for her gardens. I didn't know this but apparently bees and fairies are great friends!

Summer Week 11

Since our amazing field trip to see dinosaurs was so much fun we decided to have some dinosaur days!! Months back I had made a dinosaur basket but we had never really messed with it much so this was the week for dinosaurs! It is so hard to find cool dinosaur stuff for older kids. Everything is usually for much younger children or it is dry and boring. Skyler finally decided to crack open her Dino Doodle Journal and start working in that. She loves her journals.

Peek At Our Week 11

The week seemed to fly for us. This is the week that we get a new president so I thought I would give the kids a bit of background on elections. I don't follow politics, I really dislike the whole bit of it and whatever I did learn in school has long since been forgotten. The elections this year could not be ignored since Trump and Hilary spark such massive emotions in people.

We got out the Amanda Bennet Elections study and the boys got to work. For Skyler I just added a book to her pile of reading for the day.

I got this book years ago on a clearance sale and forgot I owned it. "America The Making of a Nation" This book is one of those interactive type things it has pull out pieces and such. I truly enjoy these types of books. It seems they were a big deal then kinda faded out but we still have quite a few of them and we still enjoy them.

So of course the library with their amazing internet was a must!

We also worked on Skylers piper computer. This is a wonderful project and for us quite challenging. The forum community for the piper has been a huge plus in this project and anyone who gets one should surely use this.

Skyler managed to do a Fall project and a crystal growing project this week.

The boys are both waiting on things to be shipped so they didn't get to any projects this week. My kids of course had fun doing school with their animals though!

Well that about wraps up our week. Hope everyone else has had a good one and not too many people are crushed over the elections results!

Peek At Our Week!! Week 11 Semester 2

The week was busy and full as usual! Damian has finally moved into another math book, Fox and Skyler both have passed lessons in theirs and we had our last week of co-op. No pottery this week that was a nice little afternoon off! We also went to learn about bats at the library! We love bats, this is the second field trip this year that has had to do with bats!

We do school all over the house!! Damian is still working in his new journal, review to come soon I hope, time permitting that is.

Skyler is still working in her journal for 2 by The Thinking Tree. She has also doing her creative writing in her writing research book also by The Thinking Tree (My Review). It is animal based so you know it must have been made for her.

We also watch cats play when we are bored LOL.

Forgive the mess but my children are busy making memories. We live here it is not perfect all the time. I aim for empty trash, washed laundry and happy kids on most days! On to our field trip. BATS BATS BATS did I mention we love bats!!!

Fossils are always cool.

Blurry pic but this little guy is just heart stealing. Bats are amazing creatures so if you have issues with them take some time to research them. They are also more closely related to humans than rats, who they have nothing genetic wise in common with. So calling them rats with wings is fairly uneducated!!

For co-op we had homework! We had to build a machine to squeeze toothpaste out of the tube. This is what my very un creative kiddos came up with and yes I am proud. Fox is my builder so this was a challenge for them.

GOOD JOB!!!!!

For co-op this week it was all about electricity. All of the activities we did plus more are posted on the amazing Miss. Shannons site.

Look at Damian HE IS LAUGHING!!!

We learned about static electricity what fun! The little girl above really enjoyed her self!

Played a game about the flow of electricity when we flip the light switches.

We lit lights with a battery and played with some snap circuits.

It was the last co-op class. That was kinda sad cause we had so much fun. I loved all the new moms I met and cannot wait to see them all again.

To finish up our week Fox and Skyler made Miss. Shannons Egyptian Bread. We learned this in another co-op run by Shannon a few years ago and it is a favorite for Fox. He also completely adores Shannon so that is why it is called her bread not just bread!

Linking Up with Homeschooling 6 for the Thinking Tree posts!

Week 11 and A Field Trip!!!!

So this week I made our math game a bit harder!!! I hid the questions behind the points so the kids couldn't look at them and I added double points to random ones!!!

This week Skyler won!!!! YAY!!!!! She picked a bag of doughnuts as her prize LOL

Not sure what was up with kitty either. She kept hopping on the table stealing pencils!!

Fox decided our dog needed to learn to read as well. He started his new reader this week The Red Badge Of Courage.

We also made laundry soap this week. That should count as home ecc right???

We also started picking our pecans. These things cover my porch and my yard every single fall!!!

Since there are so many states we started Christmas in the USA this week as well. The kiddos wanted to start with Indiana since that is where they were all born.

We are kinda following the Christmas In The USA by Enchanted Homeschooling Mom. I adore here stuff!!!

Instead of making a little tree that could get knocked over by an animal or something we put ours on the wall.. Every state gets a little penguin ornament!!

We went to the Florida Museum of Natural History for their Starry Night program to go along with our Space study. It was beyond amazing. I had so much fun, I am pretty sure they did as well. Of course they had to visit the museum exhibits first including the buttery rain forest. We have never done the butterflies before it was really neat!! As far as Skyler was concerned it was a photo opportunity for the petshops!!

Even dinosaurs love petshops!!!

Butterflies EVERWHERE even on people LOL. I have never seen so many in one place before.

They had neat globes all over showing Florida during different time periods. Fox was very interested in the different globes.

The best part about the museums is always the wonder when they yell, "Mom, look at this"!!! I love it and I ill never get tired of hearing it.

The sloth is always my favorite! Next to mammoths and dinosaurs of course!!

These little petshops are in more pictures than my kids LOL.

As usual Damian was not too picture perky but that is OK. I caught him smiling a few times :)

Now onto the stars!!! It was very very cool. We even got to see a 3D printer in action as well as touch some things from it. I would love a 3D printer LOL They are amazingly cool. Of course Skyler just wanted it cause she dreams of making more petshops.

Making constellations!

Inside the blow up planetariums

It was a space rock!!!

The cosmic tunnel was very cool too!! I only managed one picture since it was soooo dark. I never thought crawling through something could be so fun :) I only wish there hadn't been as long a line so we could have really went slowly and seen everything. That was our week and it was pretty fun!!!
