Field Trip!!!!!

        It's here, it's here, IT IS HERE!!!!!!!!!!! The day we wait for all year long is here finally! The Medieval Fair has come and for one day we step back in time to an amazing world. This is the day we talk about in our house more than any other. We spend months finding the perfect dress for Princess Skyler and remembering all the past years of the fair and wonder what we will see and do this year. We can't wait to see all the familiar faces, learn arts long forgotten by most and eat our favorite food! For one day every single year I can count on everything being perfect. We will all run around like children seeing what is next to see. I can always count on this day being the best day of the whole year. 

Field Trip!!!

       Besides a boring week of book work we took a trip to the museum and learned about an old fashioned Christmas! I really like this museum. They always dress in period costumes and really talk and engage the kids. 

       This man here has been at the museum every time we have went and Fox loves his talks with him. It is shocking that even Damian listens. He works with kids on an amazing level! He shares stories asks questions and it is all very fun not like a quiz or anything.

Field Trip!!!

        Tonight was The Starry Night at the Gainesville Museum and like every year we had a ton of fun! Skyler looks forward to this every year. The year it is a night all about the stars! This year we had a special little friend with us too so that was new. Almost as soon as we got to the museum three of my kiddos went off in their own directions. They are my let's rush and see everything kind of kids while Skyler is a take my time and explore every single detail kid!

Field Trip!!!!!

        Since we are studying Medieval Times this school year, I was thrilled to learn of a museum not too far away! The Medieval Torture Museum! I knew it would be a fun day! The kids adore Medieval and field trips so win win!! I really wasn't prepared for the amount of torture though! I never dreamt there were that many ways to torment a person. I will warn you the pictures are pretty graphic. This stuff don't phase my kids but it may phase you! Skyler was also amazed at all the things they did to so called "witches". That was almost a field trip in a field trip for her! We posted all of that stuff on her Magic School Blog.

Field Trip!!! And An Art Class

        We had so much fun visiting the Gateway Art Gallery this weekend and Skyler had a blast taking the kids art class. It was neat seeing all the art by local artists. I told Skyler one day her art will hang in a gallery! The best part was learning these classes are once a month so she will for sure be wanting to join the others as well. 

Field Trip

        I bet every kid that has ever been to the Jacksonville Zoo has a picture like this! My kids have several, I think they should start a wall of fame at the zoo for all the kids pictures. I am sure many kiddos have literally grown up alongside this turtle! We really like taking the same picture at different times to see how things have changed through the years. This is the first zoo turtle picture my oldest isn't in. I didn't realize until later when looking through them that the kids still grouped together as if there were another child there. They have been a group of four and i don't think they will ever stop expecting her to be there. 

       Giraffes are one of the coolest animals ever and I love taking pictures of life size models next to my kids. It makes it seem like they are still small!!

       We stopped off at the gift shop first, we just had to hunt around!

Field Trip

       We had a fun day at the Santa Fe Teaching Zoo College! I think Skyler has found her college! Today was Zoo Keeper Day so there were quite a few people there to talk to, ask questions and teach us stuff! I love these kind of field trips! We even got Rhyli out of her lazy mood and she came along!

Field Trip!!!!

           We had to take one more field trip this year and of course it was to the Gainesville History Museum! The new exhibit that is set up is all about bats and we LOVE bats! Yes, they are cool. No, they are not rats with wings! I used to feel very scared about bats but after learning about them I am just in awe of them. Bats are seriously cool and no, they won't suck your blood!

       The entrance was set up like a spooky mausoleum and it was awesome! I love spooky too and Halloween is my favorite time of the year!

Field Trip!!!!

        We had one of the most amazing field trips ever this week! We were able to visit Mystic Jungle Educational Facility. I love big cats and so do my kids especially Skyler. Cats are her heart and it is a calling for her in a big way. She would bring home a million if she could. She has plans to work with big cats so this was right up her alley and of course the other kiddos enjoyed learning as well. The best thing in my opinion is how personal this place is. 

  
        White tigers in my eyes are the most beautiful animals. When I was a little girl my great grandmother bought me a white tiger at a festival. He still has a spot on my bed all these years later and he is my oldest treasure. He has followed me my whole life and I have adored these tigers ever since. I thought it truly funny every time my son Fox walked by this habitat it would hiss! 

Field Trip!!!! Civil War Days

        I was very surprised to find out that the town we live by had a museum! It is all about the Civil War this week for the Battle At Olustee. The museum was a must see and the festival was a fun day! 

      This nice lady told us all about clothes during that time period as well as the etiquette for those in mourning. I would not want to follow these rules or dress codes! 

Field Trip!!!!!

      This was hands down an amazing field trip!! I love our museum and the things they come up with for the kids. It was truly a fun day. We visited The Gainesville History for Home School Days at their new exhibit, The Scoop On Poop! It was disgusting, gross, fact filled and just plain awesome! What kid don't wanna learn about poop LOL! 

      I loved the photo ops! 

Field Trip!!!!! Medieval Fair 2018!!!!!!!!!!!

      We wait all year! We plan for this! Our excitement builds until the day is finally here THE MEDIEVAL FAIR!!!!!!!!!!! We go every year and every year is better than the last, every year they learn even more and every year we add to the amazing memories we have made from this magical place!!! The Hoggetowne Medieval Faire!!!! We have things that have become traditions with this fair! We look forward to the actors every single year we know they will all be there! They are our favorite people of all! One day every year we get to step back in time to a place that is full of history and magic. It is as good as Christmas in this house!

      The actors are beyond amazing! We love that is the same people over and over, it feels like seeing old friends! Skyler always dresses for it and it never ceases to amaze me the way they all act towards her. She always feels so special at the fair. We have been enjoying lunch in years past only to have musicians come and sit with her asking even to sit with the fair maiden! Her shyness goes away for this day and she is this bubble of energy. All of the kids have their favorite places to visit at the fair and their favorite things to see. Before we leave for the fair every year Skyler has a picture in her dress! She looks so pretty!!

Filed Trip To The Farm

      Today we went to Dudley Farm is Gainesville and as usual had a complete blast! We always feel like we are stepping back in time and my kids run all over that place, it truly is magical for those that adore history! 

      My children always like starting at the family home. They have their own little routine. They went along with a filed trip this time and they were a bit thrown off! It was fun having a guide though in my opinion. I was truly proud that for the most part my kids knew exactly what she was talking about and had answers to many of the questions even if they were a bit too shy to speak up. 

     

Field Trip!!! Harn Art Museum

      To end our field trip day we stopped over at The Harn Ar Museum. Rhyli has never been and we haven't been there for quite a while so it was definitely time for a visit! I love when I can actually get half way decent pictures of my kids!

       I am not sure why but the girls got a big kick out of walking to a from this painting!

Field Trip!!! History Museum And Butterfly Garden

       After the farm today we decided to hit our favorite history museum! We really wanted to see the new exhibit about Florida's past as well as the new Discovery Zone for younger kiddos. Even though it is for younger kiddos my kids still had to explore! 

    This wall has hundreds of frogs and we absolutely love it!

Field Trip To The Court House!!

      We had such a fun day at the court house! They learned so much about the inside of the building and the way things happen as well as what people do what jobs! 

     They loved seeing an actual courtroom and sitting in the jury box!

Field Trip To Starry Night!

       Every year the Gainesville History Museum puts on an astronomy night called Starry Night. Skyler looks forward to it every year and it never disappoints. They get these cool little stamp sheets and they go around doing all the activities to get a stamp, when it is full they get a cool prize!

      The crawl through is her favorite! She does it first every single year and hates that she can't take hours in that tunnel!

Field Trip To The Sugary Bakery!

     This week was our first field trip! I promise every time I say those words I think of The Magic school Bus and Miss. Frizzle! That show will always be loved here! This week we went to the Sugary bakery and had a blast! The kids learned all about kitchens in bakeries, food safety and got to try some yummy treats! Skyler also got to share that day with her bestie Goldie as well as seeing old friends from co-op that we have not seen in forever and have truly missed! 

Field Trip To The Farm

     One of our favorite places to go is Dudley Farms. It is almost an hour away and in our opinion worth the drive! Every now and then they do these programs and we try to make it a point to go, This one was Christmas in July. The kids made some crafty ornaments by hand just like way back when! There were three choices and Skyler made two of them. The first one being a cute little felt mouse with a candy cane tail. 

     
     Skyler adores little rodents so of course she made a mouse! Next up was some thick paper snow flakes. We make these just about every year for a school room decorations but these were a bit more because she used a pattern, this is something we have never done so it was pretty neat!

Field Trip!!!!!

     We had an amazing day at the museum for all things geology! There were many games to play and I was pretty pleased she was answering so many of these things correctly! The museum does this every year and every year it is pretty fun! They also added a few new things this year so that was even better.
