MAM Monday week 12 semester 2

This Monday we had No art! We spent a big portion of the day putting together the Homeschool In The Woods Composers Lapbook. We also listened to music and of course did our math project. 

For the project this week the kids designed logos, made menus and a graph page of the cafe they are running. They seemed to do really well! They enjoyed picking out where on the graph the items in their cafe would be as well as getting to design logos and uniforms. 

For their music today we just listened to classical while we put the lapbook together. This thing took a lot of glue. About four glue sticks total. She was pretty pleased with the outcome. 

It was a fun study all in all. It was a lot of information so I am sure they will look back to it as reference in years to come. That was pretty much it for our Monday!! Happy week everyone!!!!!!

MAM Monday week 11 semester 2

We started something new for math today. It is a math project with a cafe theme. It is a nice change of pace from the games and everyone got a candy bar!!

They do all kinds of math in this projects as well as get a bit creative and hopefully have some fun!!

We also finished our See The Light Paper Jungle. I really wanted them to take all the time they wanted finishing this up so no music today other than the CD of classical we listen too anyway.

That is a close up of Skylers project. The boys were not too thrilled with being called back for a picture!

We also had a visitor today. He lives out behind the barn and every now and then he actually comes right up to the house. So the kids bring him in and let him walk around sometimes then take him back. 

Yes Stella licks all her new friends!

Stellas fur also became the object of fascination for Skyler so she got out the eye clops to see it even closer!

We also set up her little one person tent so she can have her own hide away. She loves to build forts that sadly wind up having to be taken down so this is just perfect for her! Mischief seems to like it as well.

It is awesome and the best part FREE!!!!! We do a monthly home school swap where people swap stuff they no longer need or want and Skyler snagged this cool little tent. Being that it is pink that is almost a given!

MAM Monday week 9 semester 2

Well our Monday went about the way it always does! We played some Speed and our math game of course! 

This week our winner was my little man Fox!!!

We also finished up the orchestra activity for the Home school In The Woods. The kids were glad to see this activity finished! It seemed to take quite a while to do.

We worked some more on See The Light Paper Jungle. This week they made animals and I adore the tiger Fox made!!

MAM Monday week 7 Semester 2

Our Monday!!! Math, Art and Music!! We mixed up math today instead of just money we used all different math problems. 

Added some extra point cards too!! 

This week it was Skyler who was the winner. 

We are still putting together Homeschool In The Woods Composers. We are still working on the orchestra activity. I am making them do all the cutting and putting together from now on. We also added a book with a CD of orchestra music.

Hopefully by next week we will finish this activity. 

We moved on to the second lesson in See The Light Paper Jungle. The kids made leaves and grass for their project. 

All in all FUN day! Hopefully the rest of the week is as well 

MAM Monday!!! Week 6 Second Semester

Well we played our math game as well as Speed. They seemed to get laughs out of Speed which I will consider it a win. We are still doing money type problems for our math game because I think working with money is a pretty needed skill!! I also have language arts games like the money game I am thinking of throwing in the mix this week as well. As much as I am liking the Thinking Tree Journals language arts is kinda skipped over in my opinion. They are great books though and I would recommend them to anyone. They are a wonderful addition!!! At some point I need to do a full review with them!

I decided today they could have tea with their math! I have also decided that everyone needs a math cat!

Today Skyler was our winner!!!!!!!!!!!!

They laughed quite a bit playing Speed!

Here they are working on the orchestra activity for home school in the woods composers. It is a pretty big activity so it will not be done until next week.

We also started the See The Light Paper Jungle DVD today. It looks pretty neat like the last project DVD it is 4 weeks long. We didn't do Home School In The Woods Artists today I felt this was enough art for one day!!

MAM Monday Week 5 Semester Two

     Today we had our MAM Monday! Math, art and music fun!!! We played our math game as usual then added another called Speed. Speed is a pretty cool math game for multiplication. I think the best thing about it is that it is a quick game. I have found my kids do not like sitting for hours on end. It wasn't a bad math morning so WIN WIN!!!


So here we are playing the money cards. I am realizing this week it is time to get some new cards made up these have been through a few times now!

Here are Damian and Skyler playing Speed. Once they got the hang of it things were pretty well. Hopefully this will aid in the multiplication area!

We continued on with our Homeschool in the Woods Composers study as well. This week our activity was to pick a few composers, listen to their pieces and make notebooking pages. The notebooking pages included a spot to draw what the piece makes you think of so of course Skyler was all on that!!!

For art this week I changed things up a bit. I used the Teach Yourself to Draw art, science and creative writing workbooks. These books are by the same amazing woman who designs our Thinking Tree Journals. I picked the sea creatures book and the kids got busy. I let them pick whatever animal in the book they chose, I didn't tell them they had to do it in order or anything.

Fox chose the tiger shark, both Skyler and Damian chose the dolphin.

There are two books for each topic. The drawing book then the research handbook. The children just did the research handbook today!

Now as I am participating in the Homeschooling 6 Blog Challenge of Teach By Example I also did the research handbook of Sea creatures. I chose the turtle, I mean anyone who knows me knows I will always choose a turtle!

Again I ask, doesn't everyone have a school cat???? As you can tell an artist I am not!!! It is not about product it is about process! I am linking up with Homeschooling 6 for her Teach By Example Blog Hop!!!
