Peek At Our Week 16
This was a pretty laid back week. We are still in the "I want to be on vacation mode". It is so hard after you have had weeks off. I say every year never again but they are just so fun!
Skyler is still working away in her Minecraft journal from the Thinking Tree.
I think the coolest thing this week was making a popcorn cooker out of soda cans. Sadly we never could get it to actually work which was a big let down. We had seen a bunch of videos on you tube, and followed all the directions but no luck :( I did of course get a bunch of pictures though!
We wound up using 3 candles and while the oil heated and you could hear the bubbling the corn never did pop. That was pretty much the excitement of our week. We went through the motions and tried to get the basics done!

A Magical Field Trip
This weekend we had an amazing field trip with some amazing friends! I can just say it was magical. We went to the Florida Museum of Natural History. They had a whole day dedicated to Magical Creatures and an exhibit for wicked plants! Can we say Harry Potter Day!!!!! We even snacked on food straight out of the books!
These girls are for sure fast friends and way too cute to be together!! For the Magical Creatures the museum had posters set up all over the place that we had to hunt down for a scavenger hunt. They compared the magical creature with the muggle versions!

Peek At Our week 15
This week was fairly easy. Nothing big planned since we are just starting back from a long Christmas break. I would really like to still be taking a long Christmas break! I have come to the conclusion that Skyler and cat Stella Luna are just soul mates in a sense. That cat adores her and doing school!
Skyler also started her volunteer with the North Florida Animal Rescue this week. She even made a friend!
That child would bring them all home if she could.
The boys were only too happy to go easy this week!
I also got some new math books this week! Some for the geography center and some for the math center!
I also got an amazing letter about my big girl in college!!
It is always nice to see how wonderful she is doing.

Our Review Of SchoolhouseTeachers.com
Since the beginning of this school year I have been using the SchoolhouseTeachers.com for a variety of things. This is an Internet based christian curriculum. Now that I am part of the wonderful review crew I get to do a review and shout about the sites amazing resources!! I will first say the yearly membership is a deal to begin with, and until January 15th you can get it on sale as well.
I started using this site mainly for the extra type of classes they offer. Architecture, home economics, graphic design are just a few of the extras. They also have many computer classes available. The site carries over 300 classes from pre-k up to high school. It would be simple to use them for all your schooling needs. It even has some video based classes. My own son has enjoyed the Drive Thru History course.
With all of the available classes on not only the basic reading, writing and arithmetic you also get the many, many electives. The choices are truly astounding and too numerous to even begin to name. I know my own daughter has had a blast using the web game design class. One of the best bonuses I have found is that there is no use of textbooks! I hate textbooks. Too much of a reminder of my days in school. Not too mention they are usually dry, boring and horribly expensive.
It also has a ton of help for the high school years and I will for sure own up to needing that help! It has an entire section of planning resources. It even includes the wonderful applecore planning service. All though if you are a pen and paper kind of gal, like me, you can choose from different planners some dedicated to just elementary, middle school and even one for high school. These planners are also editable. You just type it in and print it out. I find that resource priceless. I love planners and I cannot get everything written in the little boxes. To be honest it really wouldn't matter if the boxes were big for me I still couldn't fit it in!
The planning area helps in making transcripts, tracking course requirements and even planning for college. The parent resource center is priceless all on its own. There is special needs helps and even menu planning help. I cannot get over how invaluable this site is.
I know you are thinking for all of this the cost must be a fortune and well prepared to be shocked!! The cost for a yearly membership is only $180.00 that equals out to a mere $19.95 a month! But if you decide to go for it before the 15th of this month you will get half off!!! YES I SAID HALF OFF!!!! Just use this link and go ahead and sign up for the easiest homeschooling you will ever do!
Your membership will include all I mentioned and even more! The very best part unlike other places your membership is family use, that is right I said family use. You will not need to purchase multiple memberships if you have more than one child. Imagine that just about anything you could possibly need for homeschooling multiple children all in one place at one price. That is a deal you won't find anywhere else!

Skylers Newest Gig
We went to North Florida Animal Rescue today to set up appointments for our animals to be fixed! I cannot stand to see the scared little faces of all the strays and shelter animals that simply have no homes. I knew when we walked in Skyler would fall in love as soon as she saw the kitten room, I was right. I knew she would ask if she could go pet them, I was again right. I knew she would want to stay forever, and without fail I had to beg for her to leave the room. I was not shocked when she told them she wanted to come back every day. I was shocked when they told her she could..... So she is planning on going once a week to help out and volunteer wherever she can.
